Reaching out for a helping hand is a crucial step in your healing process.
If you are struggling with past trauma, I would love to hear from you. Art therapy can help you regain your focus toward healing and maintaining that change.
Art therapy will enable you to work through emotional blockages and make a new beginning.
Creative expression through drawing, painting, writing or
photography helps to release trauma, depression, anxieties, stress and
more.
LGBTQ+: Online sessions are confidential and allow you to do art therapy from a safe space
Christel Bodenbender, MA
I am a certified art therapist with years of art therapy and counselling experience. I am also a registered yoga teacher and energy healer. So, you might say, healing is in my blood.
I worked in mental health and counselling settings at Victoria Mental Health and Greater Victoria Citizens Counselling Centre (both Victoria, BC, Canada). But emotional and mental wellness shouldn't require you to have to go far. Let's meet online via Zoom or Skype.
You are the expert of your experience as we look at the essence of your artwork [Phenomenological approach]
Look at symbolism [Jungian approach]
Look at thinking patterns as they affect your emotions and mood [Cognitive approach]
Look at your body and mind as an energetic system [Yogic approach]
Easy and quick to connect from anywhere
All you need is a mobile phone/tablet or computer that can run Skype or Zoom. My business is located in London, Ontario, Canada, but you can be anywhere in the world, remote or in major urban center, and we can connect and start your healing process through online art therapy.
Contact me when you need support
Since online art therapy is a form of telehealth, we don't have to meet at any particular place, just contact me when you need support and I'll get back to you to set up a full meeting as soon as possible.
What is Art Therapy?
Uses creative expression as part of the healing process
Adds another layer, the artwork, through which you can address and work through problems or release emotions
Enables you to externalize thoughts or emotions, which can then be addressed and dealt with as it manifests on the paper
Art can be anything from stick figures to elaborate paintings
Creative expression is not only part of the healing journey, but in each session we will also talk about the art you created, letting you share it with me. Sharing is safe, as I am here to hold the space for you.
You are free to explore different forms of creative expression:
Drawing/Painting: All you need to start is a pencil and a piece of paper. You can add color, paints or other art supplies at your own choosing
Photography: Let's explore photography as therapy, where we discuss pictures you have taken between sessions
Collage: With glue and sciccors or digital
Digital Art: Since we are online, you can also create art on your computer and share it with me, such as digital collages
Crafts: Doing crafts is wonderful as well. It depends on you what materials you want to use
Additionally, you can do artwork during the time between sessions and then share them with me next time we connect. This allows you to stay engaged in the healing process.
Video interview: How does art therapy work online:
Individual sessions are 60 minutes and currently a low Canadian $75/hour for Canadian clients and US$60/hour for clients outside of Canada [I am open to talk about a lower rate based on your financial situation]
If you reside in Canada, I ask you to pay for sessions via e-transfer.
International payments are done online and can be carried out with a credit card, which allows a conversion into your local currency.
The intake session is free.
